Direction Sense questions test your ability to understand and interpret movement and direction based on given instructions.

What is Direction Sense Test?

In direction sense questions, you are given a sequence of movements and turns (left or right), and you have to determine the final direction, distance, or path. These questions assess your orientation and mental mapping skills.

Basic Directions:

  • There are 4 main directions: North, South, East, and West.
  • And 4 sub-directions: North-East, North-West, South-East, South-West.

Example:

Q: Ram starts walking north, then turns right, then again right, and then left. In which direction is he now facing?
Ans: East

Tips to Solve Direction Questions

  • Always draw a rough diagram to avoid confusion.
  • Remember the basic compass: North at top, East to right, South at bottom, West to left.
  • Turning Right from North → East; Turning Left from North → West (and so on).
  • Use Pythagoras Theorem for shortest distance questions.
  • Clockwise = right turn; Anti-clockwise = left turn in direction circle.
