An adverb is a word that modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. It often tells us how, when, where, or to what extent something happens.
π Types of Adverbs
- Adverbs of Manner: Describe how something happens.
Example: She sings beautifully. - Adverbs of Time: Indicate when something happens.
Example: He arrived yesterday. - Adverbs of Place: Indicate where something happens.
Example: They looked everywhere. - Adverbs of Frequency: Tell how often something happens.
Example: She always comes on time. - Adverbs of Degree: Tell the intensity or degree of an action, adjective, or another adverb.
Example: It was very cold.

Adverbs are often placed:
- Before the main verb: She quickly finished her work.
- After the verb: He speaks softly.
- At the beginning or end of a sentence (for time/frequency): Sometimes we go hiking.

Donβt confuse adjectives with adverbs. Adverbs often end in -ly
, but not always!
